Quartz adds durability and stain resistance
Manufactured from one of the hardest minerals on earth, quartz countertops are one of the most durable options for kitchens. The huge range of colors and textures also make quartz an eye-catching choice.
From fire-engine red and apple green, to earthy browns, blacks, and creams, with sparkles and veining for the look of granite or marble, you can find quartz in nearly any color or texture. But unlike natural-stone slabs which are mined, quartz slabs are engineered in a factory.
To make a quartz countertop, ground quartz is combined with polyester resins to bind it. Pigments are added for color, and sometimes small amounts of recycled glass or metallic flecks are included for sparkle. The resins also help make these counters stain and scratch resistant—and nonporous, so they never need to be sealed. (It’s recommended granite receive a new protective top coat at least once a year.)
For the look of stone and a long-lasting, durable surface, consider quartz. It can add the natural look of stone or a bold statement of color, you get to choose!
