Easy earth-friendly cleaning solutions
Ironically, the products that make our houses tidier tend to wreak havoc with the environment. That doesn’t have to be the case, though. You can actually make environmentally safe cleaning solutions simply and easily with everyday household ingredients.
Here are just a few solutions.
Mix 1 part white distilled vinegar and 1 part water in a spray bottle.
Soft Scrub Cleanser
Mix 2 cups baking soda, ½ cup liquid castile soap, 4 teaspoons vegetable glycerin in a sealed glass jar.
Sprinkle baking soda on carpet. Let sit for an hour or overnight. Vacuum it up.
Mix 1 cup soap flakes (just finely grate a bar of unscented soap), ½ cup borax and ½ cup washing soda. Use just 1-2 tablespoons per load.
Add ½ cup white distilled vinegar to rinse cycle of your washer. Use wool dryer balls in your dryer to fluff up clothes and absorb static.
Hang your laundry out to dry in nice weather instead of using your dryer, for fresh smelling clothes and sheets. (You can also save loads on your electricity bill!)
