What we love about LVT - Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring

Luxury vinyl tile might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of high quality flooring. It’s time to update your thinking. LVT has gone from trend-of-the-moment to long-term player in flooring choices.

Here’s what we love about LVT flooring:

1. It comes in a wide selection of styles.

You’ll find Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring available in a wide range of style options: from planks to tile and stone looks – with or without grout options – and wood looks. Generally, an LVT strip or plank attaches to the planks beside it, allowing for quick installation and the ability to install it over existing vinyl or tile.

2. LVT flooring is warmer to the touch than stone and ceramic.

It’s more comfortable to walk and stand on, yet tough enough to hold up to heavy traffic. The cozy, foot-cushioning resilience of luxury vinyl tile not only makes it a truly elegant floor covering, but also a very comfortable one.

3. It’s available in tiles and planks.

What makes luxury vinyl tile so versatile is that you can purchase it in a tile format as well as in long rectangular planks. Each provides a unique look and feel depending on the look: wood-like LVT looks more realistic as a plank whereas travertine or slate looks work better in a tile format.

4. LVT flooring is easy to install.

You have the following installation options:

  • Glue down
  • Loose lay
  • Floating where the pieces click together

Whether in plank or tile, no grout is required when you install LVT although some looks will simulate one! Some products even include a cork underlayment–so you don’t need adhesive, and subfloor prep is much simpler.

5. Some LVT planks and tiles click together with interlocking joints.

Some brands of LVT are available with Interlocking joints that eliminate the need for glue and make LVT flooring installation easy and fast. What’s not to like!

6. We can replace tiles and planks.

If you damage your LVT flooring, you can get that “just new” look again easily simply by replacing individual tiles or planks.

7. LVT flooring is extremely moisture resistant.

Warping, cracking and peeling are things of the past, making LVT flooring ideal for those wet Oregon days.

We love the realistic look of LVT flooring.

8. Floor care is a breeze.

Routine sweeping and mopping take care of most cleaning issues. You can add in products specially formulated to clean Luxury Vinyl Tile if you want extra sparkle and shine. We recommend occasionally taking a damp mop to the floor with the manufacturer’s recommended cleaner to remove dirt build-up.

(As a substitute, 2-3 capfuls of clear, non-sudsy ammonia in one gallon of water may be used. Just make sure not to use more than the recommended amount of cleaner as it may leave a dull film.)

9. LVT flooring delivers a huge variety of looks.

Luxury vinyl tile or planks can mimic stone, wood, and ceramic tile, including looks that recreate stone-like travertine and slate in a wide selection of colors and patterns. You’ll be amazed at the high-fashion looks and patterns available, all possible through innovative manufacturing techniques while offering comparable or better durability. And installation is easier than real wood, stone and ceramic flooring.
