Introducing Classique Floors + Tile Project Consultant, Casey Veldkamp
CF+T: Casey, what is your background? Are you from Portland?
CV: I was born and raised in San Clemente, California, a beautiful beach community in Orange County.
I went to San Francisco State University straight out of high school and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.
Years later I decided to go back to school to follow my passion and I attended Interior Designer’s Institute in Newport Beach and earned an AA in interior design. 3 ½ years ago I relocated from Orange County to Brush Prairie Washington.
CF+T: How did you connect with Classique Floors + Tile?
CV: I worked for a kitchen and bathroom remodeling company in Portland where I met my fellow co-worker DeLayne Brown. She recommended me for the open sales position with Classique Floors and, after my interview with you, Judith, I knew it was the place for me.
CF+T: What is your role with the company?
My position in the company is sales and interior designer. I love helping customers find just the right material for their project.
CF+T: What are the biggest flooring and tile trends that customers ask about?
CV: The biggest trend right now is cement look tile. We have several manufacturers of porcelain tiles that look like old world cement tiles but with the durability and ease of installation of porcelain or ceramic tile.
They are beautiful, unique and can transform any space. We even have some installed in our showroom, come by and take a look!
CF+T: Casey, which are your favorite products?
CV: My favorite products in our showroom are our display of Z Collection tiles. They offer such cool and unique tiles that can work with any home style and décor. They have a local showroom and stock all their natural stone tile. A great Portland company!
CF+T: How do you recommend that customers prepare for a visit to Classique?
CV: For inspiration, I suggest my customers go online to websites like Pinterest and Houzz and start collecting pictures they like.
It really helps narrow down their style and determine what look they are after as well as identifying what they do not like.
CF+T: Which is your favorite picture of feet?
CV: With our ever changing floors, it’s hard to choose a favorite feet picture. I do love the floor I chose for my foot picture, a beautiful wood look hexagon tile.
CF+T: What do you like to do outside of Classique Floors + Tile?
CV: When I’m not working at Classique Floors + Tile, I am spending all my free time with my 2 daughters and our dog Moose.
We love to go out exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest! It is so different from the beaches of San Clemente.
CF+T: What is your favorite vacation spot?
CV: By far my favorite vacation destination was the Disney resort Aulani on the island of Oahu. My daughters and I had the best time and even got to see sea turtles swim right up to the beach to eat in a secluded cove.
It was a once in a lifetime experience. Now my daughters want to move there!
CF+T: What about your favorite restaurants and/or types of food?
CV: My two favorite foods are Mexican and Thai.
It just so happens that Classique is right next to a delicious Thai restaurant, Chai Thai, and right down the street is Jalapenos Mexican Grill. They have the tastiest fresh salsa I have ever had.
CF+T: Thanks, Casey!
